Board of Commissioners

The Eswatini Competition Commission comprises the Board of Commissioners, led by the Chairperson—currently Mr. Sandile Simelane—and the Secretariat, which is headed by the Chief Executive Officer, Muzi Dlamini.

The Board of Commissioners is the highest decision-making body of the Eswatini Competition Commission. It serves as the adjudicative authority, responsible for making determinations on all investigations, merger reviews, and cases brought forward by the Secretariat. While its decisions are binding, they may be appealed to the High Court of Eswatini. In addition to its adjudicative role, the Board is also tasked with formulating and adopting policies that guide the strategic direction of the Commission.

The Board is composed of ten (10) members, including the Chief Executive Officer. Members are nominated by their respective institutions and formally appointed by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade. They represent a broad cross-section of key stakeholders, including the business community, ensuring that the Commission’s work remains inclusive, balanced, and aligned with national interests.

The current Board members are-

Sandile Simelane – Board Chairman. The Board Chairman is a member appointed by the Minister by virtue of his knowledge and expertise
Andrea Maphanga – nominated by the Institute of Accountants;
Nhlanhla Ginindza – nominated by the Law Society;
Kate Mamba – nominated by the Ministry of Finance;
Nontobeko Mabuza – nominated by the Economics Association;
Dr Celucolo Dludlu – nominated by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade;
Mandla Ntshakala – nominated by the Consumer Forum;
Nelisiwe Mtshali – nominated by Business Eswatini; and
Muzi Dlamini – Chief Executive Officer & Ex-officio member.
