On Wednesday 28 May 2025, the Eswatini Competition Commission (ESCC) had an insightful and constructive engagement with one of its key stakeholders, the Eswatini Bankers Association (EBA). The meeting provided an excellent platform for the ESCC to share its mandate and explore critical issues of mutual interest that align with their shared commitment to promoting a fair and competitive economic environment.
According to ESCC’s Advocacy & Communications Manager, Mancoba Mabuza, discussions during the engagement touched on important aspects of the ESCC’s work, including the control of anti-competitive trade practices, the regulation of mergers and acquisitions, and the protection of consumer rights.
“These areas are at the heart of the ESCC’s mandate and are central to ensuring that markets function efficiently,” Mabuza said.
Mabuza explained that the engagement was not only informative but also mutually beneficial, reaffirming the importance of collaboration in advancing economic growth, adding that at the ESCC, they place high value on voluntary compliance, which is why stakeholder engagement remains a cornerstone of their advocacy program.
“Initiatives like today’s session with the EBA are instrumental in ensuring understanding, alignment, and a collective commitment to fair competition in Eswatini. We look forward to continued engagements with key partners across various sectors as we work together to build a more competitive and inclusive economy,” he said.
